Who We Are

At Jonny Pops, our team is empowered to make an impact every day — from producing high-quality, innovative frozen novelties to spreading kindness one pop at a time. We look for bright and ambitious individuals who seek out challenges, thrive in fast-paced and high-growth environments, align with our core values, and get fulfillment from seeing their work transform the world around them.

Based in Elk River, MN, Jonny Pops develops, manufactures, distributes, and markets frozen novelties. Growing from a dorm-room start-up in 2012, our mission is to make “A Better Pop for a Better World!” — and we lead the frozen novelties space in innovation, using simple ingredients with no artificial dyes. Every pop stick includes a kind deed, spreading kindness every day.

Why

This Role Exists

Jonny Pops currently relies on outside electrical contractors for all permitted electrical work, inspection support, and emergency repairs. As we scale our Elk River facility — adding production capacity, commissioning the vision system across all lines, and operationalizing HTST — the volume and urgency of electrical work has grown beyond what an outside partner can reliably support at acceptable cost and speed.

This role brings licensed Master Electrician capability in-house, reducing third-party overhead, eliminating response-time dependencies, and enabling Jonny Pops to self-perform permitted electrical work.

Job Summary

The Master Electrician is the licensed electrical authority for Jonny Pops’ Elk River manufacturing facility. You will own all in-house electrical work from routine maintenance and preventive inspections to capital project support — pulling your own permits, supervising journeymen, and serving as the primary point of contact for electrical code compliance, AHJ inspections, and utility coordination. You will work shoulder‑to‑shoulder with our Maintenance & Engineering team to keep all lines running at peak reliability.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Electrical Operations & Maintenance
  • Perform, direct, and permit all electrical installations, modifications, and repairs throughout the facility (lighting, motor controls, VFDs, PLCs, 480V/120V distribution, refrigeration controls).
  • Execute and continuously improve the preventive maintenance (PM) program for all electrical systems — panel boards, motor starters, disconnects, and control panels.
  • Provide rapid emergency electrical response to minimize unplanned downtime on production lines.
  • Support commissioning and ongoing reliability of HTST systems, vision inspection equipment, and new capital installations as directed by engineering leadership.
  • Read and interpret single‑line diagrams, panel schedules, control schematics, and equipment wiring diagrams; maintain accurate as‑built documentation in the CMMS (Fiix).
Permitting, Compliance & Code Authority
  • Pull and manage electrical permits under your Master Electrician license for all qualifying work, reducing reliance on outside electrical contractors for permitted scopes.
  • Serve as the on‑site authority for NEC compliance; coordinate AHJ inspections and ensure all work passes first inspection.
  • Ensure full compliance with OSHA 29 CFR 1910 (electrical safety in general industry), NFPA 70E arc flash standards, and all applicable local codes.
  • Maintain and update arc flash studies, single‑line diagrams, and electrical safety documentation as systems are modified or added.
  • Manage utility coordination (Xcel Energy) for service upgrades, demand management, and new connections.
Team Leadership & Craft Development
  • Supervise journeyman and apprentice electricians as the team grows; ensure all supervised work is performed safely, correctly, and in compliance with your license obligations.
  • Train and mentor maintenance technicians on electrical safety, lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures, and basic electrical troubleshooting.
  • Contribute to standard work development for electrical tasks; document procedures in a format accessible to the broader maintenance team.
Capital Projects & Cost Management
  • Partner with engineering and operations leadership on capital project scoping, labor estimation, and execution — self‑performing…
