Lead) Senior Accountant

A great client at UHY is seeking a (Lead) Senior Accountant
. The ideal candidate will have strong GAAP knowledge, experience with month-end close and financial reporting, and strong analytical and reconciliation skills.

The (Lead) Senior Accountant role is a hybrid position with 3 days being onsite each week. This is a client direct hire position.

• Own accounting activities for assigned entities and account categories, including journal entries, reconciliations, analysis, and reporting
• Lead month-end close activities and ensure timely and accurate completion of reconciliations and financial reporting
• Analyze account fluctuations, investigate variances and unusual transactions, and document findings
• Prepare monthly financial reports, supporting schedules, and regulatory reporting in accordance with GAAP
• Research accounting treatment for complex transactions and support consistent accounting practices across entities
• Prepare audit schedules, tax support schedules, cost reporting, and other compliance documentation
• Support treasury activities including debt schedules, cash and liquidity reporting, investments, and covenant compliance
• Support healthcare reimbursement, Medicaid supplemental payment programs, and other industry-specific accounting activities
• Assist with consolidations and financial reporting for multiple entities and affiliates
• Maintain accounting procedures, reconciliation standards, and supporting documentation
• Support system improvements, special projects, and process enhancements
• For Lead-level responsibilities, provide technical guidance and quality review of accounting work and serve as a backup to the Controller as needed
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
• 4+ years of progressive accounting experience; 6+ years preferred for Lead-level responsibilities
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and accounting principles
• Experience with month-end close, financial reporting, reconciliations, and account analysis
• Strong Excel and spreadsheet skills
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of assigned responsibilities
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central or similar ERP preferred
• Healthcare, senior living, nonprofit, or public accounting experience preferred
• CPA certification or active CPA candidacy preferred for Lead-level responsibilities
