Worldwide Foam is looking for a detail-oriented Cost Accounting Specialist to join our finance team in Elkhart, IN. This role is ideal for an accounting professional who enjoys analyzing manufacturing costs, identifying trends, and partnering with operations to drive informed business decisions.
As a key contributor to our organization, you'll help ensure accurate product costing, inventory valuation, and financial reporting while providing insights that directly impact profitability and operational performance.
Key ResponsibilitiesAs a Cost Accounting Specialist, you will:
- Analyze manufacturing and operational costs to identify trends and improvement opportunities
- Maintain and update standard costs for inventory and manufactured products
- Track and report cost of goods sold (COGS), including expected versus actual performance
- Monitor and reconcile variance accounts while ensuring compliance with internal controls
- Create, maintain, and validate Bills of Materials (BOMs) and item master data
- Partner with operations teams to support cost analysis and continuous improvement initiatives
- Prepare financial reports, forecasts, and ad hoc analyses for management
- Assist with cross-functional projects and support the accounting and finance team as needed
We're seeking a motivated accounting professional with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Minimum of 3 years of cost accounting experience, preferably within a manufacturing environment
- Strong understanding of GAAP and cost accounting methodologies
- Experience working with ERP and costing systems such as Oracle, SAP, Dynamics, or similar platforms
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including financial modeling and data analysis
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
