THIS POSITION IS LOCATED IN LAPORTE, STARKE, PULASKI, ST. JOSEPH, MARSHALL, FULTON, ELKHART, or LAGRANGE COUNTY.
(the primary location for this individual will be dependent upon the candidate selected)
This position is an Eligibility Assistant Working Lead. The role involves mentoring Eligibility Assistants who support Indiana residents applying for or receiving public assistance. The Working Lead acts as a liaison between Knowledge Services, DFR Management, and the Eligibility Assistants. The ideal candidate is highly organized, collaborative, and has a current understanding of Eligibility Assistant job duties and expectations.
Responsibilities- Mentor Eligibility Assistant staff
- Travel to DFR offices within the Region as scheduled/needed (daily/weekly travel).
- Support and coach the Eligibility Assistant staff
- Ensure policies and procedures are followed as instructed by DFR Local Office Management
- Instruct and implement procedural changes from management
- Submit daily and weekly reporting of activities conducted while assisting Eligibility Assistant staff
- Provide further direction and ongoing training to Eligibility Assistant staff
- Production support provided as needed
- Eligibility Assistant experience is required
- Highly organized and analytical
- Able to provide clear and concise direction
- Leadership skills
- Patience in working with others
- Strong written and verbal skills
- Solid computer skills, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Independent worker who is a self-starter
- Strong customer service background
- Prefer a Bachelor or Associate degree in Counseling or Social Services, but High School Diploma or GED required
- 2 years’ experience in a social service environment, state or local government is desired
- Job frequently requires sitting, handling objects with hands.
- Job occasionally requires standing, walking, reaching, talking, hearing, and lifting up to 25 pounds.

The primary location for this individual will be dependent upon candidate selection, but the Working Lead will make office visits as assigned.
