Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer

Reports to: Business Unit Leader

FLSA Status: EXEMPT

Schedule: Monday through Friday (8:00a to 5:00p) extended hours may be required to support business needs

Primary duties and responsibilities:
  • Responsible for process / systems compliance.
  • Responsible for statistical analysis of process data.
  • Active participation in new program / project launches.
  • Hands-on shop floor interactions with both management and production personnel.
  • Review and improvement of existing processes / efficiencies.
  • Lean Manufacturing process improvements.
  • Lead Kaizen / Continuous Improvement activities and responsible for cost saving documentation.
  • Responsible for performing time / motion studies to establish standard production rates or to improve efficiencies.
  • Will evaluate materials and develop machinery and processes to manufacture materials for use in products that must meet specialized design and performance specifications.
  • Plan and design tools and machines to enhance production flow / processes.
  • Research and analyze customer design proposals, specifications, and other data to evaluate the feasibility, cost, and maintenance requirements of designs or applications.
  • Specify system components or direct modification of products to ensure conformance with engineering design and performance specifications.
  • Provide feedback on customer problems and needs.
  • Research, design, evaluate, install, operate and maintain mechanical products, equipment, systems and processes to meet requirements.
  • Recommend design modifications to eliminate machine or system malfunctions.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics and computer-generated reports.
  • Other miscellaneous duties as assigned.
  • Regular and predictable attendance.
  • Education, prior work experience and specialized skills and knowledge:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering preferred.
  • Five (5) or more years of progressively responsible manufacturing, industrial, or project engineering experience in a manufacturing environment preferably with fabrication, metal stamping, robotic, MIG, and resistance welding / assembly experience.
  • Physical environment/working conditions:
  • Works in a physical, plant environment along with Office. The individual communicates regularly via computer and telephone with vendors, Plant Management, and employees.
  • Other (e.g., customer contact or access to confidential information):
  • Must be able to work as part of a team. Must maintain confidentiality when working on assignments.
