Position Overview

The Human Resources Manager will lead and manage all HR functions across Supersede’s operations, including recruiting, onboarding, payroll, benefits administration, compliance, and employee relations. This role will be instrumental in shaping our growing team as we expand from our Phoenix, Arizona headquarters to a new, larger facility in Elkhart, Indiana.

The ideal candidate is a proactive, hands-on HR leader who thrives in a fast-paced startup environment and can balance both strategic and tactical responsibilities. This position requires a deep understanding of HR best practices, employment law, and workforce development in a manufacturing environment.

This role is based in Phoenix, Arizona, and requires travel up to 50% to the Elkhart, Indiana site during the startup phase and ongoing operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead full-cycle recruiting efforts for both Phoenix and Elkhart facilities, including job postings, candidate screening, interviews, and offers.
  • Manage large-scale hiring efforts for the Elkhart site (over 50 positions), including a General Manager, engineers, maintenance, and extrusion line operators.
  • Develop and implement effective sourcing strategies to attract top talent across manufacturing, engineering, and leadership roles.
  • Build relationships with local recruiting agencies, workforce development programs, and technical schools.
Onboarding, Training & Development
  • Design and manage employee onboarding programs that align with Supersede’s culture and operational goals.
  • Coordinate training for new hires, supervisors, and technical roles in collaboration with the engineering and operations teams.
  • Develop and maintain employee handbook, standard operating procedures, and HR policies.
  • Support leadership with performance management processes, coaching, and employee development programs.
  • Administer biweekly payroll and ensure accuracy, compliance, and timely processing.
  • Manage employee benefits including health, dental, vision, and retirement plans.
  • Partner with finance and leadership on compensation strategy, job leveling, and pay equity.
  • Oversee timekeeping systems and support multi-state payroll operations.
Employee Relations & Compliance
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employee relations, conflict resolution, and HR investigations.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal and state employment laws, including FLSA, FMLA, OSHA, ADA, and EEOC.
  • Manage and document workers’ compensation claims and safety-related incidents.
  • Lead site safety initiatives in collaboration with operations leadership.
  • Maintain all personnel records and HR documentation in compliance with company and regulatory requirements.
Strategic HR Leadership
  • Develop and implement HR policies, systems, and reporting to support Supersede’s rapid growth.
  • Support leadership with workforce planning, retention strategies, and succession planning.
  • Partner with leadership to foster an engaging and inclusive company culture.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to management on employee engagement, communication, and organizational structure.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive HR experience
    , including direct responsibility for recruiting, payroll, benefits, and employee relations.
  • Experience in manufacturing, engineering, or industrial environments strongly preferred.
  • Proven success managing multi-site HR operations or startup facility expansions.
  • Working knowledge of employment law and compliance in Arizona and Indiana (or multi-state).
  • Proficiency in HRIS systems, payroll platforms, and applicant tracking systems (ATS).
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage sensitive employee matters with discretion and professionalism.
  • Experience developing HR policies, employee handbooks, and training programs.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% between Phoenix, AZ and Elkhart, IN.
  • PHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP certification preferred.
