Job Summary:
We are looking for a skilled Powder Coat Paint Booth Operator to join our production team. This role is responsible for applying powder coating to metal parts using our automated paint booth and a spray gun in a controlled booth environment. The operator ensures all parts are coated evenly and meet quality standards before moving through the curing process. Sufficiently monitor all process indicators for quality of paint.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate the powder coat spray gun and booth equipment
- Apply powder coating to metal parts (steel, aluminum, etc.) according to specifications
- Inspect parts before and after coating for cleanliness, coverage, and quality
- Adjust automated spray guns and booth settings for optimal performance and efficiency
- Maintain proper film thickness and color consistency
- Monitor and maintain cleanliness of the paint booth and surrounding work area
- Perform daily maintenance on powder coat equipment, wash systems and ovens. (including guns, hoppers, and filters)
- Handle powder materials safely and in accordance with safety protocols
- Work with team members to meet production schedules and minimize rework
- Follow all safety procedures and wear required PPE (respirator, gloves, eye protection, Safety shoes, etc.)
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1+ year of experience in powder coating or industrial painting preferred
- Knowledge of powder coat materials, application techniques, and curing process
- Ability to read and follow job travelers, work instructions, and safety guidelines
- Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality finishes
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a standing position for extended periods
- Comfortable working in a hot or dusty environment with proper PPE
- Forklift or material handling experience is a plus
- Able to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs. regularly throughout the shift.
- Ability to work in a noisy, industrial environment with varying temperatures.
- Use of PPE such as safety glasses, ear protection, and steel-toed boots required
