Position SummaryThe Buffer is responsible for preparing vehicle surfaces for painting and finishing by sanding, buffing, and polishing to achieve a smooth, high-quality appearance. This role ensures that all painted surfaces meet company quality standards before moving to the next stage of production or final delivery.
Key Responsibilities- Buff, sand, and polish vehicle surfaces to remove imperfections, scratches, and other defects.
- Operate buffing and polishing equipment safely and effectively.
- Inspect painted surfaces to ensure a consistent, smooth, and high‑gloss finish.
- Apply appropriate compounds, waxes, or sealants to achieve desired results.
- Maintain buffing tools, pads, and supplies in proper working condition.
- Follow all safety procedures, including use of PPE and proper handling of chemicals.
- Report any quality concerns, defects, or rework needs to the Supervisor or Quality team.
- Work collaboratively with Paint, Quality, and Production teams to ensure timely completion of vehicles.
- Keep work area clean, organized, and compliant with safety and 5S standards.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous experience in automotive, RV, or related buffing/polishing roles strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of buffing tools, sanding techniques, and finishing products.
- Strong attention to detail with an eye for quality finishes.
- Ability to follow instructions, work independently, and manage time effectively.
- Commitment to workplace safety and teamwork.
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching.
- Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 30 lbs.
- Repetitive use of hands and arms with buffing/polishing equipment.
- Tolerance for working in a production environment with noise, dust, and chemicals.
