We are seeking a hands‑on, detail‑oriented, and quality‑first candidate to join our team as a Production Supervisor on first shift. This role will oversee a variety of operations across our hardwood manufacturing processes.

The ideal candidate thrives in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment. This position combines technical knowledge of hardwood processing with strong leadership skills to guide and motivate a cross‑functional team across the plant.

Responsibilities Oversee Plant Operations:
  • Lead in operational excellence in Quality, Safety, Teamwork.
  • Supervise a production team to include ripping, chopping, finger jointing, or face/edge gluing operations.
  • Coordinate machine schedules based on daily production requirements and order priorities.
  • Ensure proper machine setup, changeovers, and material flow throughout the shift.
  • Develop and maintain standard procedures for safety, quality, and training.
  • Ensure smooth workflow by communicating with other supervisors and departments.
  • Provide updates to management and collaborate with maintenance as needed.
Team Leadership:
  • Supervise and motivate production team members.
  • Manage work assignments and address personnel issues.
  • Train and develop staff on equipment operation, setup procedures, and safety standards.
  • Provide ongoing training and performance evaluations.
  • Enforce safety protocols and ensure PPE usage.
  • Investigate and address safety incidents.
Quality Control:
  • Monitor products for dimensional accuracy, glue integrity, and surface quality.
  • Ensure compliance with customer specifications and internal quality standards.
  • Coordinate with necessary departments to address root causes of quality issues.
Process Improvement:
  • Create, document, and maintain best practices across operations.
  • Identify and implement process optimizations and cost‑saving initiatives.
  • Monitor and improve production flow and machine utilization.
Inventory & Resource Management:
  • Coordinate with the Materials Manager and WIP department managers to keep in‑process material flow right‑sized.
  • Adjust staffing and machine usage based on nightly production needs.
  • Ensure all processes comply with safety regulations.
  • Maintain required compliance records.
Qualifications Leadership

Skills:

  • Reliable, adaptable, and detail‑oriented:
    Demonstrated trustworthiness and ability to adapt to changing nightly production demands while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to lead and motivate teams in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a focus on building trust and loyalty.
  • Experience training staff in machine operation and safety procedures.
  • Clear communicator, able to report and coordinate across shifts and departments.
Experience in Hardwood Manufacturing Operations:
  • Hands‑on experience in hardwood manufacturing, preferably including ripping, chopping, finger jointing, and gluing processes.
  • Familiarity with industrial saws, finger jointing systems, and face/edge gluing equipment.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols in wood processing operations.
  • Commitment to maintaining high‑quality standards in all production processes.
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues and implement solutions quickly and effectively.
  • Interest in continuous improvement and driving efficiency in production.
