Job OverviewCarpenter Co. has immediate openings for a Mattress Line Worker in our Laminated Mattress Department on 2nd Shift [2pm to 10pm] at our Elkhart, Indiana foam manufacturing plant. This position is responsible for producing specific products for external customers in an efficient, safe, and productive environment to meet daily production schedules and customer specifications.
Responsibilities- Read and understand the labeling process.
- Maintain a neat, orderly, and safe work environment.
- Learn the different types of mattresses produced and the configuration of each.
- Box, label, and package mattresses per customer specifications.
- Build mattresses efficiently.
- Feed toppers through the laminator, operate the sock closer and banding machine.
- Maneuver and lift materials and finished products weighing up to 70 pounds in a team lift.
- Use hand scanner and read the daily production schedule.
- Maintain Value of Order and organize the storage areas.
- Fully understand quality standards as prescribed by management.
- Assist with monthly inventory as required.
- Read and interpret a tape measure.
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree required.
- One year manufacturing experience required.
- One year of assembly experience preferred.
- Ability to use computerized equipment in daily operations.
- Computer knowledge.
- Ability to lift mattresses in a team with other operators up to 70 pounds during the entire production shift.
2nd Shift
Hours:
2:00pm to 10:00pm (work 8-10 hours per shift, depending on production schedule). Hourly starting pay rates are $22.79 to $23.76 per hour with an additional $2.00 per hour shift premium when working 2nd shift.
