Weld Shop Supervisor
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Weld Shop Supervisor to oversee and lead a team of 10-12 employees in a structural welding environment. This role involves administrative tasks, process improvements, holding team members accountable, discussing performance feedback, ensuring inventory paperwork accuracy, leading the safety program in compliance with OSHA rules, and maintaining equipment. The supervisor may also be required to weld and train junior welders.
Competence in reading and interpreting blueprints and diagrams is essential.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee and lead a team of 10-12 welders.
- Perform administrative tasks and assist with process improvements.
- Hold team members accountable and discuss performance feedback.
- Ensure inventory paperwork is completed correctly.
- Lead and enforce safety standards in compliance with OSHA rules.
- Utilize iPads for ordering parts and maintain equipment as needed.
- Participate in welding tasks and train junior welders.
- Competently read and interpret blueprints and diagrams.
Essential
Skills:
- 5+ years MIG welding experience on steel (will be weld tested).
- 3+ years supervisory/managerial experience.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and diagrams.
- Proficiency in reading a tape measure to an 8th inch (will be tested).
- Strong communication and computer skills.
- Competence in using iPads and laptops with Power Fab software and Microsoft Office.
- Ability to enforce safety measures and deescalate situations.
- Legible handwriting.
- D1.1 Certification.
Additional Skills &
Qualifications:
- Forklift experience.
- Overhead crane experience.
- CNC machine experience.

Work Environment:
Work in a small, clean, and organized facility. The role supports the existing shop leadership by splitting responsibilities. The position requires working 1st shift, Monday-Friday, from 6am-4:30pm, with every other Saturday as needed. The environment demands flexibility and adaptability to complement existing leadership strengths and weaknesses.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Elkhart, IN.
Pay and Benefits:
The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $27.00/hr eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
