CNC Lathe Machinist
We are seeking a dedicated CNC Lathe Machinist for either 2nd or 3rd shift. The role involves operating a Single Spindle Twin Turret Lathe to manufacture fire fighting equipment, including handline nozzles, apparatus valves and fittings, industrial valves, adapters, caps, plugs, and more.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate CNC Lathe machining centers.
- Perform setups and change outs for 30% of the work time and monitor machine operations for the remaining 70%.
- Conduct inspections on completed parts and maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas.
- Run Okuma-Howa Lathes, including Bar Feeder Lathes, Single Spindle Twin Turret, and Custom-Thread Lathe.
- Simultaneously manage the operation of two machines.
- Utilize micrometers and calipers to ensure parts meet specifications.
- Mount, install, align, and secure tools, attachments, and fixtures using hand tools.
- Read, understand, and edit programs for Bar Feeders.
- Perform preventative maintenance on CNC lathes.
- Maintain tight tolerances of +/-.001.
Essential Skills
- 3-5+ years of experience in setup, change outs, offsets, and operation of CNC Lathe machinery, preferably Okuma.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, with up to 100 dimensions needing verification.
- Skillful use of precision measurement tools such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
- Experience working with tight tolerances up to +/- .001.
- Understanding of G & M codes.
- Capability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Ability to make touch off adjustments, requiring mechanical and critical thinking skills.
- Experience with Fanuc driven CNC Okuma Lathes.
- Experience with Single Spindle Twin Turret.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Elkhart, IN.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $26.50 - $29.00/hr eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
