Compensation: $75.00 /h Flat Rate, 12‑week commitment

Elkhart General Hospital is a not‑for‑profit hospital located in Elkhart, Indiana. WhatYou’ll Do
As an Intermediate Care Registered Nurse, you’ll report to the Manager of Nursing Float and provide professional nursing services. You will assess patient needs and initiate, implement, and evaluate individualized plans of care, collaborating with clinical and ancillary staff to deliver quality care.
Intermediate Care RNJob Responsibilities
- Perform priority technical procedures safely, effectively, efficiently, and legally.
- Prioritize job/patient care activities based on acuity, resources, patient preferences, other department priorities, timelines, and plans.
- Respond to data indicating potential or actual risk to an individual’s health by initiating corrective action.
- Advocate for the patient or family when necessary to achieve appropriate outcomes.
- Maintain accountability for own and delegated actions and decisions, basing decisions on scientific principles, protocols, and organizational values.
- Seek supervision, consultation, or assistance when unable to perform safely independently.
- Use internal and external resources to resolve or prevent problems that cannot be managed independently.
- Develop or revise a plan of care based on initial and ongoing data; include measurable goals and address physical, emotional, social, spiritual, and learning needs.
- Initiate or maintain interventions to assure continuity of safe and effective care.
- Modify, continue, or discontinue interventions, goals, or time‑frames according to evaluation of effectiveness and patient satisfaction.
- Document assessments, interventions, actions, and outcomes consistently and within guidelines.
- Use interpersonal communication strategies with all team members to achieve desirable outcomes and satisfaction.
- Delegate tasks based on acuity/complexity, role definition, and unit needs, maintaining accountability for delegated acts.
- Maintain awareness of advances in clinical specialty.
- Contribute to the department’s clinical excellence, customer‑focused service, fiscal responsibility, innovation, and workplace culture.
- Mentor co‑workers through positive role modeling and feedback.
- Participate in department meetings and fulfill all requested assignments.
- Complete mandatory education, annual competencies, and department‑specific training within established time frames.
- Meet annual employee health requirements within set deadlines.
- Maintain license/certification and registration in good standing throughout the fiscal year.
- Maintain current BLS (CPR) and other required certifications.
You bring a high level of knowledge and competency in nursing procedures, assessments, and techniques. Your advanced analytical skills enable you to solve complex problems and make decisions related to patient care. You demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, establishing effective relationships with staff, patients, visitors, physicians, and others, and communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
Required Qualifications- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) degree, required;
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), preferred. - Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in Indiana.
- Candidates hired after January 1, 2014 must obtain a BSN within five years or become certified in their specialty area; the certification must be maintained per accrediting body standards.
