Elkhart General Hospital is a not-for-profit hospital located in Elkhart, Indiana. Our full-service, 357-licensed-bed hospital has served the community for more than 100 years with a variety of services including:
Emergency Department; radiology; orthopedics; maternity, pregnancy and childbirth; behavioral health; imaging and lab; genetic counseling;

As a Pre-Admitting Registered Nurse, you’ll report to the Director. You’ll apply the nursing process utilizing the Relationship-Based Care framework and establish strong patient and family relationships. The Pre-Admitting RN collaborates with other professional, clinical, and ancillary staff in providing quality care to patients, displays strong teamwork and exhibits self-care and self-knowing to be empathetic and compassionate in every interaction.
Pre-Admitting RNJob Responsibilities
- Manages workload, takes breaks, uses vacation time, and recognizes stress. Demonstrates care for patients and team.
- Takes accountability, mentors others, communicates clearly, participates in team huddles, and delegates appropriately.
- Plans and delivers respectful, competent care. Maintains confidentiality and professional accountability.
- Assesses, educates, and engages patients and families. Responds promptly and uses critical thinking to support health outcomes.
- Pursues ongoing education, participates in improvement initiatives, and maintains attendance and certifications.
- Evaluates care effectiveness, conducts audits, gathers patient feedback, and completes documentation and assigned duties.
You bring strong clinical knowledge and skill in assessments, procedures, and interdisciplinary care planning. You use analytical and organizational abilities to adapt care plans based on changing patient needs and data. You build positive relationships with patients, families, and team members through effective communication. You show leadership by providing feedback, mentoring peers, and supporting change. You understand age-specific care needs and deliver individualized treatment.
Required Qualifications- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) is required. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred.
- Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in Indiana.
- Candidates hired after January 1, 2014, must have or obtain a BSN within five (5) years of employment as a Registered Nurse, or will have the option to become certified in their area of specialty. The certification must be maintained based on accrediting body standards.
