Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse)

Support plasma center operations under the guidance of the Center Manager (or Assistant Manager) and the Center Physician. Report to the Plasma Center Manager and work as a Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse).

• Determine donor eligibility, including informed consent, AIDS education, confidential self‑exclusion, medical history interview, physical examination, blood testing, and review of Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE) results.
• Review laboratory test results and notify donors of unsuitable test results.
• Manage donor adverse events and evaluate donor reactions per SOPs.
• Follow SOPs for medical emergencies, develop Center Physician standing orders, and coordinate donor transport to emergency care.
• Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings or medical/technical issues related to donor safety and eligibility.
• Support employee Hepatitis B and seasonal flu vaccination programs.
• Manage employee incidents and determine need for further evaluation by occupational health/ER per EHS guidance.
• Serve as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations related to pandemic threats in the local community.

• High school diploma or equivalent, including graduate equivalent of a recognized nursing program with state requirements.
• Current license or certification in the state where responsibilities are assigned (e.g., EMT‑Paramedic).
• Current CPR and AED certification.
• Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy.
• Completion of FDA‑approved training for Bio Life Medical Support Specialist.
• At least two years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting.

Location:

USA – IN – Elkhart.

Hourly wage range: $24.32 – $33.44 per hour. The actual wage offered may depend on qualifications, experience, skills, education, certifications, and location.
