Centre for Health Policy (CHP)

The Centre for Health Policy (CHP) at the Asian Development Research Institute (ADRI) is a health policy think-tank based in Patna, Bihar. It provides support to the Department of Health, Government of Bihar on a range of policy and systems research issues, including health financing and strengthening public financial management systems for health. Its aim is to engage in rigorous analysis of the health system and inform policy makers to fine-tune interventions for even stronger outcomes.

• Identify research needs in the areas of health policy, system, economic evaluations and health delivery system in Bihar to generate evidence-based policy recommendations.
• Develop research methodology and undertake research on approved areas.
• Undertake research on health financing, cost effectiveness of interventions, and other economic evaluation studies like costing, technical efficiency, allocative efficiency, etc.
• Develop agenda for policy dialogue and facilitate such dialogues with government and relevant stakeholders for informed policy making.
• Write research reports, policy briefs and papers for publications.
• Engage with senior government officials on policy dialogue and advocacy based on the research findings.
• Interact with fellow experts within and outside, to jointly design and undertake inter-disciplinary research studies which would help the state government reform its health sector
• Regularly track key legislative and policy developments and trends relevant to health delivery system in Bihar and analyze their implications

• Master’s degree in Health Economics, Economics, Health Policy or related disciplines, with specialization / experience in economic evaluations, health care costing, health technology assessment.
• Candidates with PhD degree shall be given preference.
• Those with expertise in decision modeling for health economic evaluations shall be given preference.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in the field of health policy, systems, financing and research.
• Those with publications on related issues in reputed peer reviewed journals shall be given preference.
• Well versed with advanced quantitative methods including statistical packages.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Contract for the position shall be of one-year duration, subject to annual renewals based on satisfactory performance and mutual agreement.

This position is primarily based at ADRI, Patna.

Compensation for the position would be competitive and based on previous salary history.
