Job Description We are looking for a Toll Equipment Technician II to perform independent troubleshooting, maintenance, repair, installation, and preventative maintenance of roadside toll collection systems and associated infrastructure. This position is a full-time contract role and is onsite.
What You'll Do Independently troubleshoot, maintain, and repair roadside toll collection equipment with minimal supervision
Respond to and resolve incidents assigned through the incident management system, escalating complex issues when necessary
Diagnose and repair toll collection equipment including Automatic Toll Payment Machines (ATPMs), Automatic Ticket Issuing Machines (ATIMs), lane controllers, gates, treadles, loops, lasers, and related peripherals
Perform preventative maintenance activities including inspections, cleaning, adjustments, testing, and replacement of equipment components
Conduct daily inspections of tolling equipment, gantry-mounted devices, network equipment, UPS systems, server racks, and facility monitoring equipment
Complete corrective maintenance, preventative maintenance, and inventory documentation accurately within incident and inventory management systems
Interpret wiring schematics, parts diagrams, and technical documentation to troubleshoot and repair electronic and electromechanical equipment
Install and terminate hardware and cabling, including coaxial and CAT5 cables
Perform basic software configuration, diagnostics, and troubleshooting in Windows and Linux environments
Install, monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot CCTV camera systems
Remove damaged equipment for repair, install replacement equipment, and coordinate with repair facilities as needed
Assist senior technicians and supervisors with toll equipment installations, upgrades, and testing activities
Provide training and mentoring to junior technicians on maintenance procedures, equipment operation, and troubleshooting methods
Participate in after-hours on-call rotation and travel to tolling locations as required
Perform other duties as assigned
What You'll Need
Required:
Associate's Degree in Information Systems Technology, Electronics, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience2 to 4 years of experience in electronic equipment maintenance, toll systems, transportation technology, or a related technical field
Experience troubleshooting electronic and electromechanical systems
Ability to read and interpret wiring schematics, technical diagrams, and equipment documentation
Knowledge of electronic theory and practical application of electronic systems
Experience using voltmeters, amp meters, network testing tools, and other diagnostic equipment
Knowledge of computer networking fundamentals, hardware troubleshooting, and basic computer repair
Basic knowledge of fiber optic systems
Experience supporting or maintaining CCTV systems
Knowledge of toll collection systems and revenue-generating roadway equipment
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work independently, prioritize multiple assignments, and meet operational deadlines
Ability to train and mentor less experienced technicians
Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license
Must successfully pass a drug screening prior to employment
