Job Description We are looking for a Toll Equipment Technician III to Serves as technical expert and lead technician responsible for advanced diagnostics, complex system installations, and technical oversight of toll collection equipment. This position will be full-time and onsite in Elkhart, IN.What You'll DoServes as technical expert and lead technician responsible for advanced diagnostics, complex system installations, and technical oversight of toll collection equipment

Provides technical leadership, training coordination, and serves as primary escalation point for complex technical issues

Performs advanced troubleshooting and resolution of significant equipment malfunctions that are beyond the capability of junior and mid-level technicians to isolate

Coordinates with Toll Maintenance Supervisors on complex operational issues and system-wide problems

Determines root cause of complex equipment malfunctions across multiple integrated systems including lane controllers, networking equipment, server systems, and software applications to locate source of trouble and implement comprehensive solutions

Performs and oversees advanced preventative maintenance programs, analyzing trends and recommending improvements to maintenance procedures and schedules

Ensures optimal equipment performance and minimizes downtime

Performs advanced equipment hardware installation and cable termination, including coaxial, CAT 5, and fiber optic cabling

Performs toll equipment software configuration, network device IP configurations, and Radio Frequency (RF) configuration and troubleshooting

Utilizes advanced software tools to diagnose and troubleshoot various tolling equipment. Performs complex software troubleshooting in Windows, Unix, and Linux environments

Troubleshoots equipment networking issues across LAN, video, and discrete signaling systems

Interprets complex wiring schematics, network diagrams, and system architecture documentation for use in advanced troubleshooting, system modifications, and equipment upgrades

Performs installation, advanced corrective/preventative maintenance, configuration, and monitoring of CCTV cameras

Assists Toll Maintenance Supervisors with the installation and testing of equipment at existing and new tolling sites, including installing conduit, running wiring, installing equipment mounting hardware, and installation of tolling equipment

Provides comprehensive training to technicians on advanced systems, new equipment, and complex troubleshooting procedures. Develops training materials and job aids as needed

Performs toll system equipment installations, repairs, testing, configurations, and inspections for new and upgraded systems

Manages toll system inventory control and recommends spare parts requirements based on failure analysis and preventative maintenance trends

Completes corrective and preventative and inventory management forms as required, ensuring accurate documentation in the incident management systems and inventory management systems

Participates in project work and team meetings, providing technical input on system improvements, equipment selection, and maintenance optimization

Available for priority after-hours on-call rotation for critical system failures with the ability to travel to affected locations as required

Performs other duties as assigned

What You'll Need

Required:

Experience Requirements:4+ years of experience in electronic equipment maintenance, toll systems, or related field

Demonstrated experience leading technical projects and mentoring technical staff

Proven track record of resolving complex technical issues across multiple integrated systems

Associate's Degree in Information Systems Technology, Electronics, Computer Science, or related field required;
Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent experience

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Expert ability to read and interpret complex schematics, parts/wiring diagrams, network topology diagrams, and system architecture documentation
