The Door Tech role is a full-time, on-site position based in Elkhart, IN. In this role, the Door Tech installs, repairs, and maintains a variety of doors, including overhead, sectional, rolling steel, and entry doors, as well as related hardware and operators. Typical tasks include diagnosing mechanical and electrical issues, performing adjustments and replacements, and ensuring all work meets safety and building code requirements.
The Door Tech interacts with customers on-site, explains findings, provides recommendations, and ensures work areas are clean and organized after service. The role also involves loading and unloading materials, using hand and power tools, completing work orders and documentation, and collaborating with team members and supervisors to coordinate daily schedules.
- Technical and mechanical aptitude, including ability to use hand and power tools safely and read basic technical drawings or manuals.
- Experience or strong interest in door installation, construction, carpentry, or a related trade.
- Ability to diagnose issues, follow troubleshooting steps, and complete repairs with attention to detail and quality.
- Strong customer service, communication, and teamwork skills for working directly with clients and crew members.
- Basic math and measuring skills for accurate layout, cutting, and hardware placement.
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, climbing ladders, and working in varied indoor and outdoor conditions.
- Reliable transportation to the worksite and a valid driver’s license, with a good driving record.
- High school diploma or equivalent; prior experience in construction or building maintenance is preferred but not required.
- Commitment to safety practices, adherence to company policies, and willingness to learn and follow standard procedures.
