CNC Machinist
This role focuses on setting up and operating CNC mills and lathes to produce high-quality components according to engineering prints and specifications. You will ensure parts meet quality standards, maintain accurate production records, and support both preventive and light corrective maintenance on CNC equipment. The position requires strong technical machining skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a standard machine shop environment on a second-shift schedule.
Responsibilities- Set up and operate CNC machines efficiently, including selecting and setting up tooling, checking inserts, making offsets, and deburring finished parts.
- Manufacture components accurately according to engineering prints, blueprints, and specifications for both mills and lathes, including horizontal and vertical machining centers.
- Conduct quality assurance inspections using micrometers, calipers, gauges, and other measuring tools to ensure parts meet required standards and tolerances.
- Accurately document quality data and production metrics for reporting, traceability, and continuous improvement purposes.
- Support preventive maintenance by performing routine checks on CNC machines and promptly notifying maintenance staff of any potential issues or abnormalities to minimize downtime.
- Perform light corrective maintenance on machinery to address minor issues promptly and maintain optimal performance.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in compliance with company policies and standard machine shop practices.
- Review production schedules, prioritize tasks, and prepare equipment, materials, and tooling for daily operations.
- Safely handle raw materials, components, and finished parts throughout the production process.
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives, including the development and implementation of new fixturing and tooling solutions to improve efficiency and quality.
- Minimum of 8 years of hands-on experience operating and setting up CNC lathes and mills, including both horizontal and vertical machining centers (preferred).
- Proficiency in CNC setup and CNC operating for mills and lathes.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering prints accurately.
- Strong experience with offsets, tool changes, and machine set ups.
- Hands-on experience using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other precision measuring instruments.
- Familiarity with Fanuc controls for CNC machining.
- Proficiency in machining practices, including deburring and finishing parts to specification.
- Ability to document production data and quality metrics accurately and consistently using appropriate reporting tools or systems.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.

Skills & Qualifications
- Experience working with both mills and lathes in a standard machine shop environment.
- Experience with process improvement, including fixturing and tooling development.
- Comfort working with production schedules and prioritizing tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to perform basic preventive and light corrective maintenance on CNC machinery.

WorkEnvironment
This is a second-shift position, working Monday through Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., with occasional Saturday overtime that is usually voluntary. The role is based in a standard machine shop environment, working with CNC mills and lathes, precision measuring tools, and related machining equipment. You will work in a hands-on, production-focused setting that emphasizes safety, organization, and teamwork throughout the shift.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $47840.00 - $62400.00/yr. Medical Dental Vision 401k
