Opportunity:
RN - Med Surg
Job Details:
• Work 12-hour shifts:
Day shift 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM or Night shift 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM
• Weekend rotation every 3rd weekend
• Holiday expectations: 1 summer holiday and 1 winter holiday
• No on-call responsibilities
• Patient ratios: 1:4 during days, 1:5-6 during nights
• If administering chemotherapy, ratio becomes 1:1 with patient during treatment
• Minimum 1 year experience required
• First-time travelers accepted
• BLS certification required
• ONS or ONCC certification required if working as Oncology RN
• EPIC experience required
• General Med Surg skills required including foley insertion/care, peripheral IV placement/maintenance, bladder scans, NG tube placement/maintenance
• Experience with chest tubes, trachs, wound care/dressing changes, central line/PICC/midline management, and accessing ports
• Charge RN experience preferred but not required
• May float within scope of practice to Observation and Med Surg 4 units
• Travelers float first
• Care for general Med Surg patients including neutropenic precautions, end of life care, hospice, respiratory issues, pneumonia, oncology diagnoses, patients receiving chemotherapy, swing bed patients, and altered mental status
• One shift unit orientation plus NEO orientation
• Scrub color requirement:
Any solid color, professional appearance with no graphics, logos, or designs
• Schedule created in 6-week increments and provided 2 weeks prior to schedule beginning
Facility:
This healthcare facility is a comprehensive medical center featuring 167 beds and serves as a Level II Trauma Center. The facility offers specialized services including a Level III NICU, Level III Maternity unit, and Primary Stroke Center. The Med Surg unit has 16 beds with an average census of 16 patients per day. The facility provides 24/7 hospitalist and respiratory support, along with specialized teams including SWAT RN (ICU trained), IV/Vascular Access Team, and centralized telemetry monitoring with dedicated telemetry technicians.
