Job Description
- Testifies in court regarding how civil or criminal records are processed, retained, and protected.
- Processes concealed weapon licenses (CCW).
- Processes applications for licenses and work cards.
- Registers convicted persons and sex offenders.
- Produces reports for dissemination outside the agency.
- Maintains and manages coroner reports.
- Maintains the evidence vault.
- Processes civil documents for service within the county.
- Process garnishments and garnishment payments.
- Processes fees accepted for payment of services and licenses.
- Performs fingerprinting for the public.
- Performs data entry and retrieval, and record management.
- Answers incoming telephone calls. Provides information or routes calls as appropriate.
- Receives visitors. Aids or directs them to the correct area. Provides general information and assistance. Resolves complaints or escalates to the appropriate staff member.
- Participates, assists, and ensures compliance with the short- and long-term goals and objectives of the department. Formulates and develops recommendations and implements activities designed to accomplish operational goals.
- Maintains familiarity with and executes safe work procedures associated with assigned work.
- Updates the support services manager on work status and important developments they may need to know to function effectively.
- Represents the department with dignity, integrity, and a spirit of cooperation.
The Support Services Assistant performs clerical, secretarial, accounting, technical and professional work to support the daily business functions and operations of the Elko County Sheriff’s administration office. An employee in this position is recognized under the Labor agreement between Elko County and the Elko County Employees Association (General Unit).
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSDuties may include, but are not limited to the following:

- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous administrative experience preferred
- Must maintain a valid Nevada driver's license
- National Crime Information Center (NCIC) certification
- Nevada Criminal Justice Information System (NCJIS) certification
An employee in this position must have the following knowledge, skills, and abilities upon application:
Knowledge- Knowledge of the criminal justice system and methods of processing information through the system, law enforcement reporting formats and systems, and state requirements for civil process and dissemination of information.
- Working knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, and regulations.
- Working knowledge and correct usage of business English including spelling, grammar, punctuation, vocabulary, and formats.
