The description outlines the role of a Contract Specialist at our Cortez operation within the Supply Chain team. The successful candidate will be support-centric, contributing to a challenging and rewarding work environment that strengthens mining operations.

• Deliver contracts covering the requirements of user areas in response to urgent and ongoing operational needs; identify and develop suppliers to support commercial and operational needs
• Manage tender process, facilitate selection of service providers, develop contract documentation and support ongoing contract management; coordinate information to evaluate proposals with user areas
• Develop and maintain contracts register for end-user group and maintain currency
• Support continuous improvement and execution of Barrick’s sourcing strategy, policies and guidelines for service categories and contracts; participate in development of value-added service for SCM customers, cost savings, and other performance metrics
• Ensure timely and professional service to user departments in preparation and evaluations of bids, negotiate with suppliers, and make recommendations to management for approvals; prepare contract documentation, issue awards and regret letters, and manage contract close-out
• Acquire services per operations requirements, obtaining the best total cost of ownership, term of execution, and quality conditions
• Know and comply with current Mining Safety and Health regulations and Loss Prevention procedures; consider health and safety impact of all work-related decisions and seek methods to improve safety performance of the supplier base both operationally and contractually
• Demonstrate social awareness and compliance with Barrick’s Social Responsibility Policy, maintaining socially responsible behavior with the Community and the Company
• Perform other duties as assigned

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Accounting OR related field or equivalent experience required
• Minimum 2 years of directly related procurement experience or equivalent combination of training and experience required
• Strong computer skills using office software such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Visio required
• Knowledge of Oracle, Ellipse or equivalent enterprise level software packages preferred
• Well-developed written and verbal communication skills required
