Job Description
Great Basin College (GBC) is recruiting for a full‑time faculty position to teach courses in Industrial Maintenance (Millwright/Fixed Maintenance) on the Elko campus, beginning July
12026. The instructor will teach a variety of courses focused on pumps, power transmissions, rigging, blueprint reading, shaft alignment, and other aspects of fixed maintenance and repair. The successful candidate will develop and revise curriculum to keep classes current with industry standards and will work under the supervision of the Dean, teaching course content, assessing student learning, maintaining professional conduct, and engaging in professional development.
- Develop and teach classes covering all aspects of Millwright Technology.
- Supervise students in classroom and laboratory settings.
- Direct and assess students’ progress in achieving required competencies.
- Interact with mining and industry partners to enhance community partnerships.
- May teach evening and distance‑education classes.
- Handle administrative responsibilities related to teaching and program support.
- Represent the college professionally.
- Associate degree from a regionally accredited institution in Millwright Technology or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Five (5) years of experience in mining‑related fixed equipment repair and maintenance.
- Experience in career and technical education strongly preferred.
- Ability to work as a team member with a spirit of cooperation and flexibility.
- Computer literate in Microsoft Office products.
- Experience with alternative educational delivery methods or willingness to learn them.
- Evidence of strong oral and written communication skills.
- Post‑secondary teaching experience preferred.
- Willingness and ability to travel by car throughout the GBC service area as needed.
Grade:
Academic Faculty –1. 12‑month “A” contract position. Salary range: $65,000 – $80,000, based on education, experience, and internal equity.
