Position Overview
Great Basin College Child and Family Center is seeking a teacher aide to support the Lead Teacher and Assistant Teacher in implementing the Child Center curriculum for children aged 2‑5 in Elko, Nevada.
Responsibilities- Assist in instructing children and implementing lesson plans that promote age‑appropriate cognitive, social, and motor skills.
- Support child safety and well‑being, including caring for the children’s physical and emotional needs.
- Implement Pre‑Kindergarten standards and facilitate appropriate teaching activities.
- Set up and maintain an age‑appropriate, center‑based learning environment that meets NAEYC accreditation, Pyramid Model, and ECCERS assessment requirements.
- Model appropriate attitudes, behaviors, and techniques to contribute to program harmony.
- Promote positive public relations with contacts inside and outside the center.
- Perform other duties as directed by the Lead Teacher or Director.
- Student of Great Basin College, enrolled in at least 6 credits with a minimum 2.0 GPA.
- Qualifies for Work Study or RSP through Student Financial Services.
- Organizational, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
- Adaptable, teachable, and willing to support team members.
- Ability to respond to and make decisions in a changing environment.
- Comfortable teaching children through play.
- Physically capable of lifting up to 50 pounds, bending, reaching, climbing stairs, pulling, typing, standing or sitting for long periods.
Salary: $15.00 per hour.
Hours:
up to 19 hours per week (max 79.5 hours per month).
