Job Summary
Great Basin College (GBC) is hiring eight (8) full‑time Early Childhood Educator positions located in Elko, Nevada. These positions report to the Child and Family Center Director.
Responsibilities- Oversee and participate in caring for the children’s well‑being and safety.
- Create and implement lesson plans that support age‑appropriate cognitive and social development, including communication, emergent reading, writing, mathematics, science, social studies, creative art, fine and gross motor skills.
- Implement and teach Pre‑Kindergarten Standards through classroom activities.
- Maintain an age‑appropriate, center‑based learning environment that meets NAEYC accreditation requirements, as well as TACSEI TPOT and ECCERS assessments.
- Conduct teacher/parent conferences twice a year.
- Organize monthly parent/teacher trainings or activities at least once a month.
- Prepare and send “Homework on Wheels” home for each child once a month.
- Instruct a full‑day preschool session for 3–4‑year‑old children, Monday‑Friday, with about 20 students.
- Work a minimum of 40 hours per week under supervision of the Director.
- Model positive attitudes, behaviors, and techniques that promote program harmony and public relations.
- Participate in college committees and activities as assigned.
- Follow all guidelines in the Child and Family Center Staff Handbook and licensure standards set by the Nevada Bureau of Services for Child Care.
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, or completion of 24 credits in ECE/HDFS classes with at least three years of classroom teaching experience.
- Three to five years of early childhood classroom experience.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Proficiency with computers, including Microsoft Office and Smart Boards.
- Organizational, planning, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to respond quickly, make decisions and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
- Knowledge of NAEYC accreditation, Nevada Silver State Stars QRIS, ECERS/ITERS, and Pyramid Model.
- Annual salary range: $36,000–$50,000 (commensurate with experience and education).
