We are seeking a Plant Metallurgist for the Goldstrike Autoclave team to support day‑to‑day metallurgical performance, identify process issues, and work closely with operations to maintain safe, stable, and efficient production.
Responsibilities- Operational Support:
- Monitor daily performance of crushing, milling, autoclaving, leaching, elution, and refining circuits.
- Work closely with operations crews to ensure consistent plant performance and support shift targets.
- Support the implementation of daily operating strategies and ensure alignment with production goals.
- Conduct regular plant walkthroughs and participate in morning meetings with operations and maintenance teams.
- Process Monitoring and Improvement:
- Track and report key metallurgical indicators such as recovery, sulfur oxidation, and reagent usage.
- Assist in identifying process inefficiencies and recommend practical, plant‑based solutions.
- Collaborate with control‑room operators to interpret trends and alarm data from the DCS/PI system.
- Troubleshooting and Maintenance Coordination:
- Investigate short‑term process upsets and recommend corrective actions.
- Coordinate with maintenance to ensure metallurgically critical equipment is functioning properly.
- Assist in planning and executing shutdown inspections or maintenance projects with a metallurgical impact.
- Sampling, Test Work, and Reporting:
- Ensure routine sampling programs (autoclave discharge, leach feed, tails) are followed and data is validated.
- Conduct plant surveys and support small‑scale test work to guide process adjustments.
- Prepare daily and weekly metallurgical reports for internal review.
- Safety and Environmental Compliance:
- Follow and promote site safety procedures during all metallurgical and field activities.
- Support compliance with environmental permit conditions and air emission controls specific to autoclaving operations.
- Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- 2–5 years of experience in a plant metallurgy role, preferably in gold or hydrometallurgical operations.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a collaborative mindset.
- Familiarity with process control systems and plant data (e.g., PI System, SCADA, DCS).
- Basic understanding of refractory ore processing, sulfur chemistry, and leaching.
- Experience in crushing, autoclaving, or CIL circuits.
- Proficiency in Excel, metallurgical data analysis, and basic mass balancing.
- Hands‑on experience with daily troubleshooting and shift support in a plant setting.
- Awareness of maintenance planning and reliability programs.
