Carlin - Metallurgical Technician

Job Description

Under the supervision of the metallurgist, the metallurgical technician will carry out all necessary tests for quality control and improvement projects in the processing facilities, including the mill and heap leach. They will provide analytical data, monitor and maintain equipment for the metallurgical department to ensure parameters are being met in the processing plant.

• Assist in metallurgical studies by executing sampling plans, preparing, and analyzing samples both in a lab and process plant setting.
• Maintain laboratory and analytical equipment used in the process facility.
• Order and stock process laboratory supplies.
• Assist in reviewing new or enhanced metallurgical testing equipment or protocols.
• Assist in evaluating and administering contracts with vendors for the provision of services and equipment.
• Develop and maintain an understanding of applicable programs, practices, and existing/proposed local, state, and federal regulations applicable to the area of assignment.
• Perform other duties as required.

• Knowledge of the basic principles and methods used in metallurgical, laboratory, and processing analyses (preferred).
• Ability to collect samples, process, and accurately report on results (required).
• Working ability in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Power Point) (required).
• Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions (required).
• Skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards (required).
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing (required).
