ERM is hiring an experienced Environmental Compliance Specialist to provide support for our client a Nevada mining operation. This position will be responsible for overseeing and executing compliance-related activities associated with the site's Water and Lands programs, ensuring adherence to applicable state and federal regulatory requirements. The successful candidate will work closely with site personnel, regulatory agencies, and project teams to maintain compliance, support permitting obligations, and address regulatory reporting requirements.
This is a part-time (20-30 hours per week) limited-term role with a duration of 6 weeks, extendable.
- Support implementation and administration of site Water and Lands compliance programs.
- Assist with compliance obligations associated with Nevada Water Pollution Control Permits (WPCPs) and related permit conditions.
- Review, track, and support regulatory reporting requirements to the Nevada Division of Environmental Protection (NDEP).
- Coordinate compliance activities related to Bureau of Land Management (BLM) authorizations, Plans of Operations, and associated reclamation requirements.
- Conduct compliance reviews and identify potential gaps or areas requiring corrective action.
- Support preparation, review, and submittal of permit applications, modifications, reports, and compliance documentation.
- Coordinate with site operations, environmental personnel, consultants, and regulatory agencies as needed.
- Assist with inspections, audits, and regulatory agency interactions.
- Track permit commitments, monitoring requirements, and compliance deadlines.
- Maintain organized environmental records and documentation in accordance with company and regulatory requirements.
- Provide technical guidance and recommendations regarding environmental compliance matters affecting site operations.
- Minimum 5 years of environmental compliance experience supporting mining or large industrial operations.
- Demonstrated experience with Nevada mining regulations and permitting requirements.
- Strong working knowledge of:
Nevada Water Pollution Control Permits (WPCPs) Nevada Division of Environmental Protection (NDEP) regulations and reporting requirements Bureau of Land Management (BLM) regulations and land-use authorizations Reclamation permitting and compliance requirements. - Experience managing environmental compliance programs, permit obligations, and regulatory reporting.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Natural Resources, Geology, or a related field.
- Previous experience supporting active mining operations in Nevada.
- Experience working directly with NDEP, BLM, Nevada Division of Water Resources, or other regulatory agencies.
- Familiarity with environmental data management systems and compliance tracking tools.
Primarily remote or hybrid work arrangement with periodic coordination with project personnel. Occasional travel to a rural Nevada mine site required during the assignment. Ability to work independently and integrate quickly into an active project team.
SalaryFor the Environmental Compliance Specialist position, theanticipatedannual base pay is $38.57-$48.63 (USD). Actual pay will depend on factors such as education, experience, skills, location, performance, and business needs. In some cases, pay may fall outside this range. This role may be eligible for bonus pay subject to the sole discretion of ERM and its policies and procedures (casual and fixed term/flex force employees arenot bonus eligible).
