Radiology Technologist

The Radiology Technologist is responsible for performing high-quality diagnostic radiographic examinations in accordance with physician orders and established protocols. This role ensures patient safety and comfort throughout the imaging process, maintains accurate imaging records, and collaborates with physicians and clinical staff to support timely diagnosis and exceptional patient care. The technologist operates radiographic equipment, adheres to radiation safety standards, and demonstrates strong clinical judgment, technical proficiency, and customer-service skills in an outpatient setting.

Responsibilities

Clinical & Technical Duties

  • Perform high-quality diagnostic radiographic examinations following physician orders and established imaging protocols.
  • Operate radiographic equipment safely and efficiently, ensuring appropriate positioning, exposure factors, and image quality.
  • Adhere to radiation safety standards and ALARA principles to protect patients, staff, and self.
  • Verify patient identity, obtain relevant clinical history, and ensure proper documentation within imaging systems (e.g., PACS/RIS).
  • Review images for diagnostic quality and repeat only when medically necessary.

Patient Care

  • Provide excellent patient care, ensuring comfort, dignity, and clear communication throughout the imaging procedure.
  • Prepare patients for exams, explain procedures, answer questions, and screen for contraindications.
  • Assist patients with mobility, transfers, or positioning as needed.
  • Monitor patient well-being during procedures and respond appropriately to any changes in condition.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Collaborate with radiologists, physicians, and clinical staff to support accurate and timely diagnosis.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with patients, families, and coworkers.
  • Escalate abnormal findings or critical situations when appropriate.

Operational & Administrative Duties

  • Maintain accurate imaging records, logs, and documentation in compliance with regulatory and organizational standards.
  • Ensure radiology equipment is clean, functional, and properly maintained; report issues promptly.
  • Follow infection control, safety, and quality-assurance protocols.
  • Manage imaging room readiness, including supply levels, organization, and equipment setup.

Quality & Compliance

  • Participate in quality-improvement activities, including image quality audits and protocol updates.
  • Comply with state and federal regulations related to radiography.
  • Maintain continuing education and certifications as required (ARRT, state license, BCLS, etc.).

Requirements

Qualifications

Required:

ARRT Registered or Registry eligible within 6 months

Nevada License in Radiography, Limited License if Registry is eligible.

BCLS- AHA

Quality Image review skills

Problem solving skills

Preferred:

One year or more of experience in diagnostic radiography, preferably in an outpatient, orthopedic, or spine-care environment.

Experience working with PACS/RIS systems and electronic health record platforms.

Prior training or experience in orthopedic imaging, including spine and extremity radiography.

Bilingual or multilingual abilities

Exposure to blood, sharp instruments and other devices, body fluids and tissue, communicable diseases, chemicals, radiation, and repetitive motions

Full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients

Manual and finger dexterity

Hand and eye coordination

Standing and walking for extensive periods of time

Lifting and carrying items weighing up to 50 lbs

Corrected vision and hearing to within normal range

Working under stressful conditions
