How You'll Contribute

A Central Sterile Technician who excels in this role:

  • Collect, inspect, decontaminate, assemble, sterilize, store, and distribute reusable surgical instruments and patient care equipment in accordance with hospital policies and regulatory standards.
  • Prepare instrument trays and supplies to support a variety of surgical specialties, including Orthopedics, OB/GYN, General Surgery, Endoscopy, Cataract procedures, and Robotic Surgery.
  • Operate sterilization equipment, washer disinfectors, and other departmental equipment safely and according to manufacturer guidelines.
  • Process and document sterile supplies using chemical, biological, and mechanical indicators to verify sterilization effectiveness.
  • Monitor and perform testing of antimicrobial and disinfectant solutions while maintaining accurate documentation.
  • Inspect surgical instruments for cleanliness, functionality, and completeness, ensuring all trays are assembled accurately before use.
  • Maintain organized inventory of sterile instruments and supplies while ensuring proper storage and handling practices.
  • Collaborate closely with the Surgery team to support daily procedural needs and provide exceptional customer service to internal departments.
  • Assist with maintaining compliance with AAMI, AORN, OSHA, and The Joint Commission (TJC) standards.
  • Support department efficiency by working independently while contributing to a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
What We're Looking For

Applicants should have a high school diploma or equivalent preferred. Additional requirements include:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association within 30 days of hire.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining accuracy in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and critical thinking skills.
  • Positive attitude with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a supportive team.
  • Ability to prioritize work and adapt to changing surgical volumes.
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous Central Sterile Processing experience in a hospital or surgical setting.
  • Healthcare experience or exposure to a hospital, surgery center, or other clinical environment.
  • Knowledge of surgical instrumentation and sterilization practices.
  • Familiarity with AAMI, AORN, OSHA, and TJC guidelines.
  • Certification in Sterile Processing (CRCST or equivalent) is preferred but not required.
Training Opportunity

Candidates with a healthcare background who demonstrate strong attention to detail and a willingness to learn are encouraged to apply. Comprehensive on-the-job training is available for qualified individuals without prior sterile processing experience.

Schedule

Monday-Friday (7am
-3:30pm)

Weekend/Call:
No routine weekends or on-call required. Occasional weekend hours may be available based on surgical volume.
