Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Manager, Community Relations to lead community engagement, regional partnerships, and local development across our mining operations. This role builds trusted relationships with external stakeholders—including local communities, government entities, business leaders, and educational institutions—while collaborating closely with internal teams across Nevada Gold Mines and North America, including operations, planning, permitting, environmental, legal, and supply chain.
Role SummaryThis position requires a visible field presence, strong interpersonal judgment, and the ability to navigate complex social, political, and economic environments while supporting responsible mining development. The Manager, Community Relations will play a key role in maintaining the company’s social license to operate and advancing long‑term regional development initiatives aligned with company values and operational priorities.
KeyDuties & Responsibilities
- Build and lead a high‑performing team while advising leadership on community sentiment, risks, and opportunities
- Lead community relations strategy across operating sites and development projects
- Build and maintain trusted relationships with communities, governments, business leaders, educators, and stakeholders
- Serve as a visible company representative in local and regional communities
- Develop and execute engagement plans supporting operations, permitting, workforce, and partnerships
- Ensure consistent, transparent communication about company activities and impacts
- Identify and advance opportunities for sustainable regional economic and social development
- Partner with local leaders on key priorities such as infrastructure, housing, workforce, and emergency response
- Oversee community investment and philanthropy programs aligned with regional priorities
- Collaborate with site leadership and cross‑functional teams to integrate community priorities into operations
- Support issue management, conflict resolution, and crisis response related to stakeholder concerns
- Bachelor’s degree in public affairs, communications, political science, rural development, sustainability, natural resources, or related field required.
- 12+ years of experience in community relations, external affairs, stakeholder engagement, government relations, or social performance, preferably within mining, energy, infrastructure, industrial, or natural resource sectors required.
- 5+ years of supervisory experience required.
- Strong understanding of rural communities and the economic and social dynamics associated with resource development.
- Demonstrated experience working directly with local governments, community leaders, and diverse stakeholder groups.
- Experience supporting complex industrial operations or large‑scale development projects.
- Strong political judgment, negotiation skills, and ability to manage sensitive issues with professionalism and credibility.
- Excellent written, verbal, and public presentation skills.
- Highly relationship‑oriented and visible in the field.
- Practical, credible, and trusted by both operations teams and external stakeholders.
- Comfortable operating in politically and socially complex environments.
- Strong listener with the ability to balance business priorities and community expectations.
- Self‑directed, resilient, and able to work effectively across geographically dispersed teams.
- Eligible to live and work in the United States, required.
- Fluent in reading and writing English language, required.
- Fluent in reading and writing Spanish language, preferred.
