Are you a Safety and Health (S&H) professional looking to grow a career with a collaborative, diverse, and dynamic mining company? We have an opportunity for you!

We are looking for a S&H Superintendent to join the team at our Carlin Mine site. The successful candidate will work as part of a team, under supervision, to develop, implement, and monitor safety and health programs for near‑mine or in‑mine facilities in compliance with company and regulatory requirements. They will perform activities essential to ensuring employees can do their work safely to prevent injuries or health impairment, advocate for safety and health compliance, provide training, monitor compliance, audit, and report.

They will also perform routine tasks or work on a minor phase of a larger project.

Responsibilities
  • Direct assigned area activities including planning, scheduling, budgeting, projects, cost containment and profitability within a three‑month window. Ensure timely delivery of results against plans.
  • Ensure all operations are carried out safely, consistently, efficiently and in accordance with environmental and other regulations and NGM standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Drive consistency across supervisors with responses to significant events, incident reporting, investigating and awareness across supervisors and implementing preventative and corrective actions consistently across the teams. Ensure compliance with regulations and legal obligations.
  • Engage team members in effective problem‑solving including go look, see and listen. Identify opportunities for improvement, develop recommendations for changes to practices, techniques and standards to leadership.
  • Ensure appropriate staffing is in place, supporting recruiting and hiring.
  • Support investigations, make corrective action and terminate decisions and may assist shift supervisors with issuing discipline to team members.
  • Complete handovers with incoming and outgoing peers to support continuity of operations and safety. Drive consistency of standards across shift supervisors and teams.
  • Implement systems to maximize efficiency and resources.
  • Observe Safety Interactions done by supervisors and give them feedback on how to improve.
  • Give feedback to, coach, and mentor shift supervisors.
  • Lead effective meetings for the team.
  • Review the performance of team members and provide feedback.
  • Conduct Drug and Alcohol Testing.
  • On‑call responsibilities are required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • 6+ year experience in mining or related industry with proven/demonstrated Leadership in Safety or Minimum 6+ years’ experience in Safety and Health
  • 2 + Divisional Areas (minimum 1 year each)
  • Minimum of an Associate Degree in a science‑based curriculum
  • OR a Bachelor's Degree in a non‑scientific field
  • OR significant IH/Safety experience
  • Advanced knowledge with MSHA health and safety regulations and standards
  • Multiple divisions required with a minimum of 1 year experience preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate health and safety related risks
  • Ability to train and coach others on issues relating to health and safety
  • Practical application of Microsoft Office Suite of software
  • Blue Card Holder
  • Advanced understanding in Occupational Health
  • Advanced Incident Investigation experience and certification
  • Computer literacy (Adobe Acrobat, Web‑based Data Systems)
  • Demonstrated time management skills
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, plan, and multi‑task
  • Ability to develop and implement OHS programs and systems
  • Advanced understanding of mining and associated processes
  • Interpersonal, presentation, and training skills
  • Collaboration and influencing skills
  • Advanced first aid and emergency response knowledge
  • Proven ability to lead teams
  • Advanced understanding of safety systems
  • Knowledge and application of leadership skills, incident investigation and risk assessment/management
  • Advanced knowledge of State & Federal regulations
  • Good decision‑making skills
