Job Overview

Sandvik Mining is seeking a Workshop Planner for its Elko, NV location. The role focuses on planning manpower and material requirements to meet delivery commitments for workshop operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work closely with the workshop team to plan for manpower and material requirements.
  • Develop and audit Standard Job Plans (SJPs).
  • Prepare and communicate rebuild schedules, Gantt charts, and other materials.
  • Ensure building, tooling, and personnel resources are used effectively.
  • Generate parts lists for all equipment related jobs.
  • Place purchase orders for major components and outside services.
  • Develop change orders based on updated scopes of work.
  • Track all workshop jobs.
  • Organize outgoing shipment of units.
  • Prepare reports and other information for weekly production meetings.
  • Facilitate project debriefs to gather feedback, identify gaps, and improve SJPs and BOMs.
  • Participate in all workshop safety meetings.
  • Comply with SMC safety policies and other regulations.
  • Complete relevant data collection and reporting as required.
  • Identify and report unsafe work habits.
  • Send weekly progress report to workshop supervisor and manager.
  • Coordinate weekly planning meetings to present/adjust the operational work plan.
  • Prepare backorder review prior to the weekly planning meeting.
  • Prepare weekly hours report per job and perform weekly updates of work plans by bay for efficiency projections.
  • Send parts delivery request by workstation to delivery station.
  • Prepare a weekly operational work plan considering personnel assignment per shift and project.
  • Perform any other responsibilities per business needs.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Minimum 3 years college‑level education and 2 years experience in a similar planning role with responsibilities for jobs ranging from $200 to $1.5M.
  • Computer literate, proficient with CMMS and project management software.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 3 years technical experience as a technician on heavy mining equipment.
  • 4+ years in workshop rebuild planning and capacity management.
  • CMMS certification.
  • Associate’s degree or certification in business administration, project management or logistics.
  • Proficiency in Maximo CMMS, MS Project, MS Excel, AI tools (e.g., MS Copilot).
  • Knowledge of SAP.
Additional Expected Competencies
  • Mechanical understanding of heavy mobile equipment and component identification (Sandvik equipment preferred).
  • Ability to interpret parts diagrams, hydraulic and electrical schematics, and OEM procedures.
  • Strong report writing skills.
  • Superior interpersonal skills for teamwork and customer relationships.
  • Ability to work as part of an integrated, broad team.
  • In‑depth understanding of customer business processes.
  • Highly developed time management and organizational skills.
  • High level of initiative, drive and determination to achieve goals and targets for customer satisfaction.
  • Exemplary attitude towards fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
Key Result Areas and KPIs
  • Ensure all maintenance information is generated timely and reliably for analysis and reporting.
  • Accurately determine workload for each technician team.
  • Ensure information in Maintenance Management Software is timely and of high quality.
  • Continuously improve maintenance plans and programs to meet established goals.
  • Achieve GP compliance (projected profit – projected margins) and cost attention.
  • Achieve KPI metrics for utilization.

Compensation

Expected salary range: $74,240 to $95,000 annually.
