What You'll Do
- Develop and execute social media strategies that support marketing, recruitment, and enrollment goals.
- Create, schedule, and publish engaging written, graphic, photo, and video content across multiple social media platforms.
- Maintain an editorial content calendar to ensure timely, consistent, and strategic messaging.
- Monitor social media channels, respond to comments and messages, and foster positive online engagement.
- Analyze social media performance and provide recommendations to improve reach, engagement, and effectiveness.
- Partner with faculty, staff, and campus departments to promote academic programs, student success stories, and college events.
- Attend events throughout GBC’s service area to capture photos, videos, and behind-the-scenes content.
- Supervise and mentor student employees assisting with social media and digital content creation.
- Organize and maintain digital media assets while staying current with emerging social media trends, platforms, and best practices.
- Bachelor's degree and two years of relevant professional experience; OR High school diploma or equivalent and six years of relevant professional experience; OR An equivalent combination of education and experience totaling six years.
- Experience managing social media accounts for an organization, business, or educational institution.
- Proficiency with major social media platforms and social media management and analytics tools.
- Experience using applications such as Meta Business Suite, Hootsuite, Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar creative software.
- Photography, videography, and video editing experience.
- Experience in higher education, marketing, communications, public relations, or a related field.
- Strong writing, storytelling, and interpersonal communication skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- This position requires flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends to support college events and activities.
- Travel throughout Great Basin College's service area is required.
- A valid driver's license is required.
This position is a 12 month "A" contract, 12 month contracts are used for year round programs.
CompensationThe budgeted salary range for this position is $61,000 to $80,000. Salary is based on relatable education and experience, internal equity and budgets.

- Great Basin College is proud to provide a reduced-rate tuition benefit to faculty and qualified dependents. Faculty can take up to six credits per semester at a reduced rate. Dependents of faculty have unlimited credits, but in order to be eligible children must be unmarried and under the age of 24 and must receive at least 50% of their financial support from the employee and/or employee’s spouse or domestic partner.
