Position Summary
Great Basin College (GBC) is hiring a full‑time, 9‑month tenure‑track nursing faculty member to join the Associate of Applied Science Nursing Program in Elko, Nevada. The instructor will teach classroom, online, simulation, and clinical courses and mentor nursing students.
Key Responsibilities- Teach courses in the AAS Nursing, RN‑BSN, and Medical Assistant, Phlebotomy, EKG (MAPE) programs across lecture, online, and clinical modalities.
- Provide hands‑on instruction in simulation labs and clinical environments.
- Evaluate student performance and ensure achievement of learning outcomes.
- Participate in curriculum development, accreditation activities, and student advisement.
- Contribute to the nursing department and college committees and support the CNA program as needed.
- Travel to other GBC campuses and statewide or national meetings as required, which may include overnight stays.
- Master’s in Nursing (MSN) OR a BSN with enrollment in an MSN program within one year of hire from an ACEN or CCNE‑accredited program.
- Minimum three years of RN experience, preferably in medical/surgical, acute care, or community health settings.
- Eligible for Nevada RN licensure, which is required upon hire.
- Prior teaching experience is a plus but not required.
- Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to oversee students in clinical settings.
- Passion for teaching, mentoring students, and experience with distance learning and online instruction is desirable.
• Academic Faculty – 3B contract – nine months (end of August to mid‑May) paid over 12 months.
• Salary range: $50,000 – $95,000, based on education, experience, and internal equity.
• Retirement: 19.25% employer contribution matched by the university; fully vested on the first day; 100% vested for permanent employees on an “A” or “B” contract.
