About Jerritt Canyon

The Jerritt Canyon deposit was discovered in 1972, and the first gold production from the property occurred in 1981. The Jerritt Canyon property contains 30,821 hectares of mining claims located in the mining-friendly state of Nevada. First Majestic acquired the Jerritt Canyon Gold Mine from Sprott Mining Inc. on April 30, 2021. In May 2023, operations were suspended to prioritize exploration and technical studies.

Jerritt Canyon is now entering a new phase of evaluation and planning, requiring substantial technical support to advance the work necessary for a potential future restart of operations.

Working closely with site leadership and Senior Health & Safety professionals, this role provides hands‑on support to identify, assess, and mitigate workplace risks while ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and company standards.

The Coordinator contributes to the implementation and continuous improvement of Health & Safety (H&S) programs, systems, and initiatives that support safe, compliant, and efficient operations, positioning the site for a successful future restart.

  • Support compliance with federal, state, and company H&S regulations; accompany leadership during MSHA and state inspections.
  • Facilitate and support incident investigations using recognised methodologies (e.g., Tap Root, ICAM, 5 Whys, Fishbone) to identify root causes and drive effective corrective actions.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of corrective actions to prevent recurrence of incidents and exposures.
  • Participate in formal and team‑based risk assessments, including development and tracking of mitigation plans.
  • Compile, analyse, and report H&S performance data to support continuous improvement and informed decision‑making.
  • Support the implementation of H&S systems, programmes, and site‑wide initiatives.
  • Assist in the delivery and coordination of safety training and risk management programmes.
  • Maintain and manage corrective action logs, supervisor compliance tracking, and standard operating procedure (SOP) registers.
  • Conduct follow‑up audits and verification activities to ensure effectiveness of corrective actions and compliance systems.
  • Collaborate with contractors and consultants to communicate Jerritt Canyon H&S expectations and ensure alignment with site programmes and practices.
  • Support emergency preparedness efforts, including planning, training, and participation in emergency response activities.
  • Assist leadership in the execution and ongoing improvement of emergency management and rapid response systems.
  • Participate in corporate and global H&S initiatives, including workshops, audits, and governance programmes.
  • Provide ongoing coaching and support to field personnel and leadership to strengthen the overall safety culture.
