Part‑Time Geology Instructor
The Science Department at Great Basin College seeks a broadly trained Geologist or Earth Scientist for part‑time instructional work.
Job DescriptionTeach lower‑division courses in Geology (principally Physical and Historical), Physical Geography, and Environmental Science. May be asked to teach an upper‑division course in Geological Resources.
Responsibilities- Instruct lower‑division courses in Geology (Physical and Historical), Physical Geography, and Environmental Science.
- Possibly deliver an upper‑division course in Geological Resources.
- Familiarity with Economic Geology and mining is an asset.
- Perform all duties required of part‑time faculty, including course assessment.
- Collaborate with department and college colleagues to pursue departmental and institutional goals.
- Master’s degree in Geology or Environmental Science required.
- Industry experience strongly preferred.
- Student‑centered teaching philosophy encompassing design, delivery, and assessment.
- Commitment to the college mission.
- Collaborative and customer‑service attitude.
- Experience using distance‑delivery technologies preferred.
- Eligible to work in the United States.
Salary is the standard part‑time instructor amount based on the number of credits taught. This position is non‑benefits eligible and exempt. Full‑time equivalent: 47.5%.
