Mining Operation (Evaluation, Restart & Development Phase)
The Opportunity
An established mining operation is seeking a Project Geologist to support geological evaluation, drilling programs, and resource development at a site progressing through a structured evaluation and restart phase.
This role plays a key part in advancing geological understanding and reducing technical risk through well‑executed drilling and field programs. The Project Geologist will be involved across target definition, drill planning, execution, data interpretation, and integration of results into broader technical studies and long‑term mine planning.
This opportunity is well‑suited for a hands‑on geologist who enjoys field‑based work, values data quality, and wants exposure to technically complex projects as they move from evaluation into potential restart and future operations.
Key Responsibilities- Support the development and refinement of geological and mineral system models
- Plan, execute, and manage surface and underground drilling programs
- Ensure accurate geological logging, sampling, and spatial data collection
- Supervise drilling, field, survey, and sampling contractors with a strong focus on safety and compliance
- Design and execute geological mapping and geochemical sampling programs
- Manage sample preparation, laboratory submissions, and assay result validation
- Maintain high QA/QC standards across geological, analytical, and spatial datasets
- Analyze, visualize, and interpret geological and assay data using industry‑standard software
- Produce plans, sections, and technical summaries to support exploration and project decisions
- Contribute to regular technical updates and cross‑disciplinary discussions
- Support continuous improvement in drill program design, execution, and safety performance
- Reports to a Senior or Lead Geologist / Geology Superintendent
- Works closely with exploration, technical services, and site operations teams
- Coordinates with drilling and field contractors
- Bachelor’s degree in Geology (required)
- 1–5 years of experience in mineral exploration or mining environments
- Hands‑on experience supporting drilling programs
- Familiarity with geological logging, sampling, and QA/QC practices
- Experience with geological modeling or GIS software (e.g., Leapfrog or similar) is an asset
- Strong organizational, communication, and field coordination skills
We recognize that early‑career geologists build experience in different ways. If your background does not align exactly with every requirement listed, but you have relevant field, drilling, or exploration experience and are eager to develop your technical and operational skill set in a dynamic mining environment, we encourage you to apply. This role is expected to evolve as the project advances, and candidates with strong fundamentals, curiosity, and a willingness to learn will be considered.
