DAY IN THE LIFE OF A STAFF GEOLOGIST/SCIENTIST

Under the supervision of the Elko Office Manager, you will support a range of environmental projects including water and wastewater monitoring and operations; emergency response;
Phase 1 environmental site assessments; soil and groundwater characterization; air sampling; remediation system operation and maintenance; lithologic logging and well construction monitoring; and biological surveys and water resources activities. You will conduct field work to drive project execution and ensure that appropriate health and safety procedures are followed. Your people skills are essential as you interact regularly with local clientele and contractors, while also maintaining all administrative responsibilities.

You will provide accurate data to our Senior and Associate Scientists and prepare daily reports, ensuring that clients are happy and all jobs are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Biology, Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering
  • Zero to two years of environmental‑related work experience
  • Ability to work outdoors, traverse moderate terrain and lift up to 50 pounds
  • Technical writing competency
  • Strong technical and computer skills
  • Self‑starter, quick learner and effective communication skills
  • Ability to travel
  • Ability to work individually and as part of a team
  • GIS experience a plus

WORK SCHEDULE

This full‑time Staff Engineer/Scientist position typically works Monday – Thursday, with some traveling and weekend work. Extended deployments for emergency response are possible for up to two‑to‑three weeks on a voluntary basis.
