Underground Electrician

Barminco Mining Services has an exciting opportunity for an Underground Electrician to join our team at a project location 65 miles outside of Elko, Nevada. Reporting to the Maintenance Foreman or designate, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing electrical support and expertise to all areas of the underground and surface equipment in a safe and efficient manner to avoid injury to themselves or others, or damage to the equipment, other property or to the environment.

Using technical and practical knowledge, this position will follow instruction, utilize manuals, and adhere to the US electrical code, health and safety standards.

65 Miles outside of Elko, Nevada

7-days on / 7-days off rotation

Charter transportation from muster point. Camp and meals provided.

• Demonstrate commitment to adhere to all Mine site safety rules, procedures and regulations, while ensuring the safety of others
• Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, schematics and electrical code specifications to determine layout of industrial electrical equipment installations
• Install, examine, replace or repair electrical wiring, receptacles, switch boxes, conduits, feeders, coaxial cable assemblies, lighting fixtures and other electrical components
• Major involvement in the installation and maintenance of the underground HV supply, dewatering, ventilation and services system
• Test electrical and electronic equipment and components for continuity, current, voltage and resistance
• Maintain, repair, install and test substations, switch gear, transformers, switchboard meters, regulators and reactors
• Maintain, repair, test and install electrical motors, generators, alternators and hydraulic and pneumatic electrical control systems
• Troubleshoot, maintain and repair industrial, electrical and electronic control systems, automation related systems and other related devices
• Conduct preventive maintenance programs and keep maintenance records
• General repairs and re-builds of Flygt sump pumps and small pumping stations
• May install, maintain and calibrate industrial instrumentation and related devices
• Document reports detailing work performed, problems diagnosed, pre & post checks and all other required shift paperwork
• Maintain and demonstrate a professional and courteous relationship with employees, subcontractors, the client and all other personnel
• Practice good general housekeeping in the work area and equipment
• Maintain a valid Driver’s License; manual transmission experience required
• Understand and comply with all PPE requirements in work areas
• Provide your own basic hand tools
• Other duties may be assigned by your Supervisor, as required

• Minimum High School Diploma or equivalency
• Preferred 3-5 years of experience working underground as an Underground Electrician in the installation and maintenance of electrical equipment in underground mining operations
• Preferred Journeyman Electrician certification consideration will be given to 4th year apprentices
• Preferred Sandvik development drill maintenance experience
• Thorough knowledge and understanding of the Mining Safety and Health Act and Regulations and US Electrical Code
