Underground Construction Miner – Raisebore Crew Member On-Site | Travel Required | $25–$40/hour + $150 daily per diem for qualifying travel assignments

Miller Contracting is hiring Underground Construction Miners to support raisebore drilling, shaft construction, mine development, and heavy industrial construction projects throughout the western United States.

Crew members assist with raisebore operations, underground construction, material handling, concrete work, rigging, hoisting, and equipment setup and teardown. Candidates with experience in underground mining, hard rock mining, shaft sinking, heavy civil construction, industrial construction, or related trades.

This is a full-time, hourly field position requiring travel, extended work rotations, and approximately 50–60 or more hours per week.

Required Qualifications
  • Underground mining, heavy industrial, heavy civil, or construction experience
  • Ability to safely perform physically demanding work in underground environments, with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn specialized mining construction techniques
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a crew
  • Willingness to travel for project assignments
  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to work overtime, rotating shifts, weekends, and extended schedules as project needs require, with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Strong commitment to safety and quality workmanship
Preferred Qualifications

Experience in one or more of the following is preferred:

  • Raisebore drilling, underground mining, shaft sinking, or mine development
  • Underground, heavy civil, or industrial construction
  • Concrete, formwork, reinforcing steel, or structural steel installation
  • Rigging, signaling, hoisting, welding, or fabrication
  • Current MSHA Part 48 certification
Key Responsibilities
  • Support raisebore and underground construction activities
  • Install underground structural components and infrastructure
  • Assist with shaft construction and rehabilitation projects
  • Install steel, supports, and other underground systems
Raisebore Support
  • Prepare work areas and equipment
  • Support setup, operation, and teardown of raisebore equipment
  • Transport materials and equipment throughout the job site
  • Maintain tools and equipment in safe operating condition
Rigging & Material Handling
  • Assist with rigging and lifting operations
  • Safely move materials and equipment underground
  • Operate hand and power tools
  • Assist with hoisting operations
  • Maintain organized staging and work areas
  • Assist with concrete placement and finishing
  • Install reinforcing steel and structural components
  • Support formwork installation and removal
  • Assist with grouting and underground support systems
Safety & Compliance
  • Follow all company, MSHA, OSHA, and customer safety requirements
  • Participate in safety meetings and inspect tools and equipment before use
  • Identify and report hazards and exercise Stop Work Authority when necessary
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
Compensation, Schedule and Travel
  • $25–$40 per hour, based on relevant experience
  • Overtime pay in accordance with applicable law
  • Typical schedule of 50–60 or more hours per week
  • Travel and extended work rotations required
  • $150 per day in per diem for qualifying travel assignments
  • Weekly pay
  • Quarterly discretionary profit sharing based on company performance, individual performance, attendance, safety, and policy compliance
