Position: SOCIAL WORKER 1

Job Summary

The Aging and Disability Services Division (ADSD) in Elko, Nevada is recruiting for a Social Worker 1 in the Office of Community Living – Intake (OCL). This position may be used to fill current and future vacancies and includes an upcoming promotion path to the next level upon meeting qualifications and satisfactory performance.

Responsibilities
  • Assess and reassess client functional status, conducting interviews, using assessment tools, and reviewing medical, legal and law enforcement reports.
  • Develop and implement individualized case plans detailing intervention strategies, service referrals, and monitoring of progress.
  • Coordinate services through a network of state agencies, community organizations, and private providers in areas such as mental health, substance abuse, rehabilitation, homemaking, and employment.
  • Conduct home visits, monitor service delivery, evaluate case plan effectiveness, and manage resources.
  • Hold multidisciplinary team meetings to plan protective services and identify abuse or neglect risks.
  • Document all case activities, maintain written case histories and prepare required reports in accordance with policies and regulations.
  • Provide crisis intervention, respond to emergency calls, and report abuse or neglect to appropriate authorities.
  • Serve as a lead or mentor to new or experienced Social Workers and supervise non‑professional staff.
  • Assist with other related duties as assigned and operate in a trainee capacity under close supervision.
Qualifications
  • Licensure or provisional licensure as a Social Worker, Clinical Social Worker, Independent Social Worker, or Associate in Social Work.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations, manage caseloads, and communicate effectively.
  • Experience with case management practices and familiarity with state and federal regulations.
  • Basic math and data analysis skills.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • General knowledge of social work principles, ethics, human behavior dynamics, confidentiality laws, and client rights.
  • Ability to interact with individuals from various economic, cultural, and educational backgrounds and handle hostile or uncooperative clients.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including composing reports and legal documents.
  • Analytical skills: assemble, analyze, and report data.
  • Organizational and prioritization skills, plus ability to work independently and follow through on assignments with minimal direction.
  • Proficiency in computer use for data entry, storage, and retrieval.
