POSITION SUMMARY: To help reduce or eliminate communication‑related impairments that interfere with the individual student's ability to drive full benefit from the District's educational program.

• Serves as a resource to school staff members for professional development regarding communication related skills.
• Assists and guides teacher in observing, describing, and referring suspected and identified speech and language impairments.
• Provides a therapeutic program to meet individual needs of students with speech and language impairments.
• Provides a thorough assessment and diagnosis of speech and language impairments.
• Assists in proper referrals of individuals to agencies and specialists in the community as appropriate.
• Provides an individualized program of speech and language therapy to meet individual student's needs.
• Collaborates with classroom teacher and other staff members in the implementation of therapy into daily activities.
• Accurately completes requisition forms to request appropriate materials and equipment for speech and language programs that comply with the budget.
• Maintains accurate, complete and correct records and inventories as required by law, district policy and administrative regulation.
• Cooperates and communicates with building principals concerning the speech therapy program in their school.

• Guide the learning process toward achievement of curriculum goals.
• Establish and communicate clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects.
• Employ a variety of instructional techniques and strategies aligned with instructional objectives in order to meet the needs of all students.
• Regular and punctual attendance.
• Maintain confidentiality.
• Work cooperatively with students, parents/guardians, peers, administration, and community members.
• Participate as an active member with other faculty and staff.
• Maintain accurate and complete records as required by law and district policy.
• Maintain and improve professional competence.
• Perform other job‑related duties as assigned by principal.
