Position Summary:
Oversees all functions of the reception desk operations and provides principal administrative support for a 50+ Center. Supports overall operations of the 50+ Center with member support, food service and facility maintenance. Serves as a team member for all aspects of the Center.
Starting Salary Hiring Range: $20.03 - $24.70 $ 41,670 - $51,375 This is the anticipated starting salary range for this position. Please note that the final salary will be determined by the Office of Human Resources, commensurate with experience and aligned to ensure internal equity with similarly situated roles.

Description:
Performs intermediate technical level administrative support work under general supervision from an administrative or technical superior. Work typically involves performing clerical and secretarial work, such as data entry and document management, file maintenance of secure and confidential records, and public contact and service. Work may also include accounting clerical tasks such as bookkeeping, keeping of financial and other important records; preparing vouchers for payment;
documenting and depositing cash receipts; and controlling, recording, and storing data. Work at this level may also include independent responsibility for a routine clerical process. This is a Classified position, meaning that it is a part of the Howard County Classified Service upon completion of a probationary period of at least six (6) months.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Front Desk Operations & Customer Service:
Greets and directs customers, provides information, registers participants, collects payments, and processes memberships using Active Net. Assists staff, visitors, and building partners with referrals, communication, directions, and coordination. Responds to written and verbal requests for information from the public, guests, staff, and outside agencies. Maintains member communication including wellness calls, program updates, and promotions. Staffs building rentals and supports external user groups;
may work evening and weekend hours. Works and cooperates with coworkers and supervisors at all levels and attends meetings and trainings as directed. - Facility Operations and Safety:
Opens the center and secures the facility upon closing. Prepares and arranges rooms for program use, special events, congregate meals, meetings, and trainings, including furniture and audio-visual arrangements. Interfaces with Facilities regarding building issues, inspection reports, maintenance needs, and work orders. Works toward securing the safety and security of participants and staff. Completes and submits incident, injury, accident, and related reports.
Participates in Emergency Management activities as requested, including work outside normal business hours. Position is considered essential and may be required to work in emergency situations. - Administrative and Technology Support:
Performs administrative duties including data entry, database maintenance, photocopying, and updating email newsletter systems. Assists the DCRS technology team with setup of audio-visual equipment, video conferencing tools, and Webex software. Troubleshoots issues with Active Net, AIM, and other software in coordination with technology staff. Reconciles daily closeout receipts and submits them appropriately. Complies with department and fiscal policies when making PDQ card purchases. - Program Coordination and Event Support:
Coordinates in-person and virtual programs with staff, including technology setup, hosting, and streaming support. Provides programming support and assists recreational staff with program setup and breakdown. Works as a team member on selected projects supporting 50+ Center staff and DCRS departments. - Policy Compliance and Organizational Support:
