Adjunct Faculty Role – Finance and Economics
UMGC seeks adjunct faculty to teach on-site at Dorsey, MD, for the Finance and Economics program.
Courses Offered- Principles of Macroeconomics (ECON 201):
Introductory study of the macroeconomy, applying theories to real‑world situations, covering growth, innovation, unemployment, inflation, monetary and fiscal policy. - Principles of Microeconomics (ECON 203):
Analysis of economic principles behind consumers and firms, applying theories, emphasis on market theory, government intervention, innovation, market structures, income distribution and poverty.
- Actively engage students through frequent interaction that motivates them to succeed and conveys genuine enthusiasm.
- Guide students in active collaboration and application of learning in problem‑ and project‑based learning demonstrations.
- Provide rich and regular constructive feedback, utilizing rubrics effectively and acknowledging accomplishments.
- Demonstrate relevant and current subject‑matter expertise and help students connect concepts across the program.
- Provide feedback to the program chair on possible curricular improvements.
- Master’s degree in Finance or Economics, or related field from an accredited institution.
- Professional experience in Economics or Finance.
- Experience teaching adult learners online and in higher education strongly preferred.
- Terminal degree in Finance or Economics, or related field from an accredited institution.
- Certified Management Accountant certification.
- International degree holders may need to submit a translation/degree evaluation from a NACES‑approved vendor.
- Resume or Curriculum Vitae.
- Cover Letter (highly preferred).
Salary is commensurate with experience and depends on rank, degree, and credit hour step level.
Health coverage includes medical, vision, dental, and prescription plans for individuals and families, effective from the first of the month following hire. Adjuncts are responsible for the total cost if enrolled.

Supplemental retirement plans: 401(k), 403(b), 457(b), and various Roth options with no matching funds.
TrainingAll new faculty members are required to complete a two‑week online new faculty orientation, Fac Dev 411, as a condition of hire.
