Sr Principal Systems Test Engineer
Location:
Elkridge, MD. This role requires CONUS/OCONUS travel and, if selected, eligibility for domestic/international assignment benefits, allowances, and premiums negotiated between Northrop Grumman and the customer.
Relocation assistance may be available.
Security ClearanceSecure clearance (Secret) is required for start.
Responsibilities- Provide direct technical support for the AN/TPS-78 Ground/Base RADAR system, including production, operation, training, maintenance, and repair.
- Offer expert technical advice to foreign and domestic military customers on setup, operation, troubleshooting, and repair of deployed TPS-78 systems.
- Conduct remote support and on‑site troubleshooting and repair, including refresher training and documentation of maintenance results.
- Serve as subject matter expert on system operations, signal flow, electronics theory, troubleshooting, and fault isolation.
- Support engineering efforts involving upgrades, replacements, modifications in design, and procedural use changes.
- Ensure adherence to established procedures and schedules by other personnel.
- Aid in training and courseware/product development.
- Participate in testing and evaluation of TPS-78 system improvements and new software baselines; document test results and recommendations.
- Review and modify technical documentation.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance on equipment.
- Bachelor’s degree with 8 years of relevant experience or Master’s degree with 6 years of relevant experience.
- Interpretation of technical drawings, diagrams, instructions, or schematics.
- Experience with electrical safety procedures, hazardous material handling, and use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Familiarity with electronic test equipment (digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, network analyzers, power meters, breakout boxes).
- Knowledge of system integration test and evaluation processes or equivalent.
- Physical ability to maneuver around equipment in a test lab and lift equipment up to 40 pounds.
- Practical experience with maintenance processes and procedures.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Networking skills, preferably with Cisco equipment and computer network administration.
- Ability to support multiple shifts and CONUS/OCONUS travel.
- U.S. citizenship and an active/current U.S. Government Secret clearance.
- Military background.
- Collaboration experience with customers and NGC counterparts to define and maintain program strategies.
- Experience with air defense/surveillance radar systems (TPS-78, TPS-75, TPS-70, TPS-43).
- Knowledge of maintenance echelons (1st through 4th level or field level).
- Logistics support and repair parts requisition processes.
- Ability to plan and execute complex assignments and develop new methods, approaches, and procedures.
- Experience operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting radar systems and deploying ground‑based mobile radar systems.
- Primary level salary range: $ – $.
