.

Position Overview

The Staff Electronics Engineer will serve as the subject matter expert (SME) for all legacy test sets and the associated legacy program, including hardware, software, fixtures, procedures, and configuration control. This role provides risk-based management of test set hardware and software, ensures reliable and compliant operation, and leads verification and validation (V&V) for new and upgraded equipment.

The engineer will partner with facilities, procurement, quality, manufacturing, and engineering to support plant-wide initiatives, cross-program needs, and special projects. This position is also responsible for defining and executing the long-term roadmap for test set modernization and obsolescence management and communicating impacts to program leadership.

What You’ll Get To Do Test Systems Subject Matter Expert
  • Serve as the SME for legacy test sets (hardware, software, fixtures, procedures), owning test strategy, limits, and overall configuration control
Failure Analysis & Corrective Actions
  • Lead root-cause investigations for test failures and systemic issues; develop and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to restore test integrity and reduce repeat failures
Data-Driven Continuous Improvement
  • Analyze test data and trends (yield, failure modes, cycle time) to identify opportunities for improvement; propose and implement changes to test methods, equipment configurations, and data capture
Risk Management & Governance
  • Identify, assess, and track risks associated with test equipment and usage; maintain a risk register, define mitigations, and communicate key risks and residual risk to program and site leadership
Maintenance & Reliability of Test Infrastructure
  • Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance for environmental and test equipment (thermal chambers, vibration tables, ovens, cooling systems, etc.); ensure reliability, performance, and compliance with safety, environmental, and quality requirements
Modernization & Obsolescence Strategy
  • Develop and execute the long-term roadmap for test set modernization and obsolescence management, including upgrade plans, replacement strategies, and alignment with program needs
Relocation & Site Integration
  • Plan and coordinate relocation of test sets (e.g., to Troy Hill), including feasibility assessment, logistics, requalification, and documentation updates; ensure smooth integration into new facilities and operations
Operational Resilience & Backup Planning
  • Establish maintenance schedules, spare part strategies, and backup test paths to minimize downtime and support multi-shift and weekend operations when required.
Cross-Program & Cross-Functional Leadership
  • Provide cross-program SME support to harmonize test practices and leverage common solutions; partner with engineering, manufacturing, quality, facilities, procurement, and external vendors on complex test and sustainment issues
Customer, Audit, and External Interface
  • Support internal and external audits related to test equipment and processes, ensuring timely closure of findings; act as technical interface to customers and external partners to explain test strategies, constraints, and risk mitigations
Documentation, Reporting & Training
  • Maintain clear, accurate documentation (SOPs, equipment databases, test procedures); produce concise reports on risk assessments, maintenance, relocation status, V&V outcomes, and key test metrics; mentor and train junior engineers and technicians to support succession and…
