This role supports the build-out of a high-end research and medical facility by installing and fitting copper and galvanized piping for high-pressure systems. You will work on complex piping installations in an active construction environment, with a strong focus on quality, precision, and adherence to clean room and medical gas standards.
Responsibilities- Fit and install copper and galvanized pipe for high-pressure piping systems in a research and medical facility build-out.
- Interpret and work from blueprints and construction drawings to lay out, assemble, and install piping systems accurately.
- Perform brazing on 4- to 6-inch copper and galvanized steel piping, ensuring strong, leak-free joints.
- Carry out welding tasks associated with pipe installation as required by project specifications.
- Install and assemble piping systems in clean room environments, following strict cleanliness and contamination control procedures.
- Thread, fit, and secure various piping components, including valves, fittings, and related hardware.
- Assist in the installation of medical gas piping systems, following applicable codes and standards.
- Collaborate with other trades and team members on an active construction site to coordinate installation schedules and tasks.
- Inspect completed installations to verify proper operation, alignment, and compliance with project requirements.
- Maintain a safe and organized work area, following all site safety policies and procedures.
- 2–5 years of experience in pipe fitting in a government or commercial setting.
- Proficiency in fitting copper and galvanized piping for high-pressure systems.
- Hands-on experience with brazing 4- to 6-inch copper and galvanized steel pipe.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction drawings for piping installations.
- Experience working in clean room environments with strict cleanliness standards.
- Practical welding experience related to pipe installation.
- Strong skills in installation, threading, and fitting of piping systems.
- Knowledge of plumbing and industrial piping practices.
- Ability to work safely and effectively on an active construction site.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with medical gas piping systems is a plus.
- Background in industrial or commercial construction environments.
- Ability to collaborate with other trades and construction personnel.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship.
- Reliability and willingness to work occasional Saturdays as needed.

WorkEnvironment
The role is based on an active construction site focused on retrofitting and rebuilding existing pipe systems in a research and medical facility. You will work primarily with copper and galvanized steel piping, performing brazing, welding, threading, and installation tasks in both standard and clean room environments. Typical hours are 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, with occasional Saturday work as project needs require.
The setting is fast-paced and safety-focused, with coordination among multiple trades and adherence to construction site protocols.
This is a Contract position based out of Elkridge, MD.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $35.00 - $45.00/hr eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
