Position Summary:

The Safety Manager serves as AUI Power's primary safety liaison, serving as a key liaison to our customers, trusted partners and our operating teams. This role drives a deliberate and consistent approach to safety communication, standards, field engagement, incident follow-through and risk reduction. The Safety Manager owns the coordination and closure of safety matters while partnering with department leaders who remain accountable for daily crew execution and performance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all safety matters, representing AUI Power with professionalism, consistency, and sound judgment.
  • Maintain and evaluate AUI Power's Safety Program through annual reviews to ensure compliance with company, customer, and regulatory requirements.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert on company and customer safety standards, regulatory compliance, and incident prevention strategies.
  • Maintain a field presence by engaging with operations, conducting site visits, identifying trends, and escalating unresolved safety concerns.
  • Lead and coordinate incident investigations with cross-functional departments, ensuring timely analysis, corrective actions, follow-up, and communication of findings.
  • Facilitate safety orientation and onboarding for new employees and subcontractors.
  • Support managers in conducting effective root cause analyses and provide training as applicable.
  • Monitor, analyze, and report safety metrics, recurring trends, and outstanding actions to support proactive decision-making.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the Safety Coordinator, ensuring completion of documentation, reporting, compliance activities, and follow-up actions.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Minimum 4 years of safety/field experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of workplace safety, OSHA, and the application of customer safety standards in field operations. Working knowledge of 29 CFR OSHA 1926 Construction Industry Regulations.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating safety investigations, customer communication and corrective-action follow-up.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety standards, technical procedures, and governmental regulations, and write clear reports and business correspondence.
  • Ability to work in both office and field environments, including inclement weather conditions, uneven terrain, around moving equipment and areas with electrical hazards.
  • Ability to balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and to lift or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Highly organized, self-motivated, and able to manage multiple priorities with little to no supervision.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; comfortable with public speaking.
  • Working knowledge of word-processing, spreadsheet and internet-based business systems.
  • Must successfully complete a criminal background check and drug screen.
Skills and Preferences:
  • Certified Utility Safety Professional (CUSP) certification preferred.
  • Experience supporting electric utility construction, power-delivery operations, or another high-risk field environment strongly preferred.
